To be honest, I started watching Melo Movie because of one of the actors, Cha Woo Min. Fortunately, I found the series quite awe-inspiring as it turned out to be more emotional than I thought. The series explores something deeper: the pain of growing apart while still loving someone.
Directed by Oh Choong-hwan, this romantic melodrama tells the story of two people who reconnect through their shared love of films. With its soft cinematography and realistic characters, Melo Movie is a story that feels both comforting and heartbreaking.
Melo Movie follows the story of Ko Gyeom, a passionate movie critic, and Kim Mu-bee, an aspiring film director who once shared a romantic relationship before suddenly drifting apart. Years later, they meet again while pursuing their dreams in the film industry.
As they reconnect, the drama explores their unresolved feelings, personal struggles, and the emotional impact of love, loss, and growing up. Through its slow-paced storytelling and realistic characters, the series portrays how people heal and change over time.
One thing I liked about Melo Movie was its characters' expressions. The actors and actresses did an incredible job, playing the characters until I felt the pain. Specifically, the remorse, the loneliness, the frustration, and the depression. Of course, it is a romance melodrama, although I was more intrigued by the character's vulnerability.
“Don’t bottle everything up by yourself.” - Kim Mu-bee's mom to Ko Gyeom.
The meaning of the scene was basically her telling Ko Gyeom that he keeps carrying pain alone instead of sharing it with others. That’s also one of the main themes in Melo Movie: learning to communicate and let people in.
Moreover, I liked how the characters, Son Ju-a and Hong Si-jun, expressed their regret to each other. They were once a couple and thought they knew each other well, but they didn't. I felt their frustration more than the main character. Maybe, because I've been living for love since birth.
One thing I disliked was the slow-paced storytelling, but overall, the series suited my taste in drama since I liked rom-com and the emotional genre. No matter how much I deny my taste in these genres, I will always come back to them and let out all of the tears.
In conclusion, Melo Movie is more than just a romantic drama because it also tells a meaningful story about healing, dreams, and human relationships. The emotional acting, beautiful cinematography, and realistic characters make the drama memorable and relatable to viewers. Although some parts of the story may feel slow-paced, the series still delivers heartfelt messages about love and personal growth.
Overall, Melo Movie is a touching drama that is worth watching, especially for viewers who enjoy emotional and realistic storytelling.
Thanks for reading! #xoxo #min
